From the Owner (Connie): I bought my 1982 Celebrity in 2003. I'm the 3rd true (the guy I bought it from never sailed it) owner. It was owned for years by Al Lawton, former Commodore of Cave Run Sailing Association, who bought it from the original owner. Because it was built in N.J. most of the existing Celebrities are in New England-there has been a Celebrity Class in NY for years, and the molds are owned now by someone there. It was originally built in Holland, where the mast had to be lowered frequently to go under the bridges.  It is a racing boat, though I have yet to win a race! I'm sure with the right skipper she could fly, but I doubt I'm the one. The Zephyr always seems to be the belle of the ball, so her beauty outshines her performance every time!

I had yearned for a sailboat since long before I learned to sail (as a Girl Scout counselor), and this was the first one I went to look at-there was no looking back. I love my boat.

I first sailed her on Patoka Lake before discovering POYC-no looking back on that decision, either! I have gone from being scared to launch my own boat, to racing, to single-handing (with my faithful crew, Emma) because of the encouragement and support from everyone there..
