When an Area has used up its assigned block of numbers it will add as a
prefix the digit “1”, “2”, etc. so that in the case of the Detroit River Y.A.,
for example, numbers 15000 – 15999 will be issued followed successively by
25000 – 25999, and so forth.

One Design Class numbering shall be allocated by the class and confirmed by
P.I.Y.A.
PIYA numbers are assigned to individual boats and remain with that boat.
When changes in ownership happen PIYA must be notified. Boats purchased from
another area may retain that boats sail number after PIYA is notified and
that sail number registered.
On November 23, 1994 the Canadian Yachting Association gave the
authorization to issue sail numbers to British
Columbia via BC Sailing for Canadian boats.
