Ohio Valley Sailing Association is the local arm of US Sailing. It is a collection of US Sailing (Member) Clubs from the general area of the Ohio River Valley - roughly from Pittsburgh to Louisville. Typically, OVSA Clubs are sited on small lakes throughout this area. OVSA provides a local “face” for the National Organization. US Sailing is the National backbone of our Sport; the sailor’s lobby, our corporate conscience, our only collective national visibility. US Sailing creates and supports the Rules of Racing by update and publication, by interpretation, and by providing an appeals structure for challenges to club and regatta protest findings. US Sailing offers National Championships for common people like us and our kids, for such competitions as Mallory (men’s), Adams (women’s), and the Youth Championships in Sears, Bemis, and Smythe. The Youth Championships start at the local (Ohio Valley Sailing Association) level, and proceed up to the national level via successive, knockout competitions. Questions and comments are invited, addressed to Judy Hearn, commodore - email happythistle@aol.com
