MCYC and The
Michigan City Waterfront
Michigan City Indiana, located on Lake
Michigan's South Shore, offers sandy beaches, protected
harbors, and great racing ! Whether you are coming to race, or
are being dragged along with the kids, Michigan City has
plenty to offer for the weekend visitor.

Venue
Michigan City Yacht Club was founded in 1933. Located directly
on the harbor channel, it's only a short sail to the open
waters of Lake Michigan. A full service club, MCYC sports 3
bars, and a full service restaurant with indoor, and outdoor
dining. In 1987, MCYC played host to the Pan Am Games Yachting
Event, and hosts the Columbia and Tri-State regattas annually.
Two, 2-ton lifts, and a paved dry sail area, are available for
launching. Shower facilities are available via the Port
Authority.

Weather
The weather in July is generally in the high 80's to
low 90's clear skies, and warming water temperatures. Although
classic sea breeze conditions can exist on hot summer days
from the sand dunes, racing is kept far enough offshore, to
help factor this phenomenon out. If it's blowing hard out of
the North, expect seas of roughly 3-5 feet. If the wind is
coming from the South, East or West, expect light chop,
building as the wind builds. There is a light current on Lake
Michigan, but is less pronounced at the Southern tip. It will
be noticeable in very light air, and can range from 1/4 to 1/2
knot.

Area Attractions
Michigan City offers activities for everyone, not just the
racing sailor. Bring the whole family, and while you are out
