Laser and Sunfish racing for sailors of all skill levels and ages.  Sailing starts at noon on selected Saturdays & Sundays  (April - October) on Marsh Creek Lake at Marsh Creek State Park, north of Downingtown, PA.

Why Race?

Fun, Sun and Fitness

Whether you are new to sailing or experienced, sail boat racing in a friendly environment improves your sailing skills and knowledge of boating.  Small boat sailing on Marsh Creek during the warm spring, summer and fall months is a great way to have fun and get fit!

Meet New People

Marsh Creek Sailing Club members are men and women of all ages...our Laser Champion, Jacques, is 14 and Bernie, our Sunfish Champion, is 82!!!  They come from different backgrounds and complete range of sailing experience from beginner to World Class racers.

Learn to Go Fast

Do other sailboats pass you by? They probably honed their skills racing one-design boats like Lasers and Sunfish. Club racing is not only an opportunity to learn to sail, its about learning to sail well and sail fast! Members strive to help each other with tips on racing, tactics, techniques, rules, and rigging - so that we all can become better sailors.

Why Marsh Creek?

Marsh Creek State Park is located conveniently off Route 282, just 5 miles north of Downingtown. At the center of the park is Marsh Creek Lake. Winds are usually light to moderate, perfect for Laser and Sunfish sailing.  Frequent wind shifts teach sailors the value of sailing the favored tack.  The park offers a convenient grassy area for launching that is also ideal for a family picnic. Experienced club members, on and off the water at Marsh Creek, will discuss sailing and may even come out and sail with with you on non-race days.

Getting Started at Marsh Creek

We want new (and old) sailors to come sail with us - 10 boats are better than 5 and 20 boats are better than 10. Getting into a sailboat race for the first time can be a little intimidating. So, if you are new to sailboat racing we have a couple ways you can start participating. First, you can show up for a scheduled race and go out with the race committee before actually getting into a race. The race committee is made up of experienced small boat sailors that can explain what is happening while they actually run the races on the water. This is a great way to get up-close to racing. Come out, start introducing yourself around, and we'll see what we can do. Then, buy a boat and come out and race with us. We will do our best to assist you in the art of sailboat racing.
