Getting the Word out to the Sailors!

  7. Keep a mailing list of past participants; send 2 NORs and entry forms and ask them to bring a friend.
  8. Get/purchase mailing lists from class associations – see contacts in the Clinics/Learning section.
  9. Advertise in class newsletters, local papers, etc.
  10. Closer to the event, call the junior program directors and/or instructors and coaches; ask them how many kids they plan to bring.
  11. Contact your Regional Training Coordinator (www.ussailing.org/training/RTC/rtclist.asp), and ask them to contact head instructors and coaches in the area.

Attracting New Sailors Is a Key Part of Junior Olympic Sailing!

  1. To attract new sailors for your festival activities, invite the local Boy and Girl Scout troops.
  2. Contact your local Parks & Rec. Dept., YMCA, Boys & Girls Club, etc. Encour-age coaches and parents to bring soccer/little league teams for a free sail.
  3. Put a poster up at the YMCA and other youth hangouts. Be sure to say that nonsailors are welcome.
