How to Use This Manual

This Junior Olympic Sailing Events Manual is written for you, the Event Organizer. Much of what’s here is special to USA Junior Olympic Sailing Festivals. Some will be “old hat” as you’ve been running successful regattas for a while, maybe a long while.

Here’s one way to make good use of this manual:

Read the Table of Contents.

You’re doing it: “Start Here” particularly “What Makes Junior Olympic Festivals Special?” “Event Chair’s Timeline/Checklist” and “Logos - How to Use.”

Browse other sections, for an overview of what’s there – Primary info is at the beginning of each section followed by reference materials and samples. There is a separate reference section that combines all section reference materials.

Read soon: Organization (Registration/Membership), Sponsorship (in Promotion) and Safety (all areas you may delegate but for which you have ultimate responsibility).

Let your key people know how to access the manual and ask them to read “their” sections. You may find that each section represents a subcommittee.

Adapt your own Event Timeline/Checklist.

Download the files in the reference section onto your own computer.

E-mail/Call US SAILING if you need specific additional information - Lee Parks at juniorolympics@ussailing.org or 401/683-0800 x650.

We hope this Junior Olympic Sailing Events Manual proves useful. Your suggestions are encouraged.
