Co-Chairman: Jeana and Gary Van Dusen

For those looking to spend lazy summer days with friends and fellow sailors, then CSA is the place for you. With several cruising events, social get together, and potlucks, members are never short on time spent with friends. CSA is unique in its quite laid back atmosphere where everybody receives a warm welcome. No blue blazers here.

As long time members Jeana and Gary have done wonders to preserve some of the lakes oldest traditions. Some of our cruises date back a  number of years and the tradition  lives on today. Gary and Jeana have continued on by creating new traditions sure to have a long history of their own.

If you would like more information on events, or would like to help with an event please contact David Cohen

Directions to PYC

Memorial Day Harrison Cruise:
This is a fun get together. Every one meets at PYC then sails to Harrison to spend the weekend. Parties, bike riding, and idle conversation are just a few of the things to expect on this fun cruise. Watch the calendar for departure time.

Beach House Restaurant
The Beach House Restaurant is at Silver Beach Marina on the north shore, just about straight across from PYC. When approaching by boat go to the west (left) side of the docks. The dock nearest the shore is for visitors. The restaurant has a nice, large deck outside, or if you would prefer to be out of the elements, there is also a great view of the marina and lake from inside. You can also get there by car. Take the Sherman exit and follow Lake Coeur d'Alene Drive east.

Carlin Bay Cruise
Carlin Bay Resort is a nice facility with a restaurant, bar and lots of dock space. They usually have a band on the weekends. Come have an enjoyable cruise down with the fleet and hang out for the evening. You can stay the night at the docks and have breakfast on the deck, too. Again, watch the calendar. (We're laid-back sailors, we don't plan too far ahead!)

Cruisers Buoy Race:
July 4th weekend is made for boating and spending time on the water. On the weekend nearest to July 4th we will hold a Cruisers Buoy race. This is for the big boats to come out and have some fun. If you don't normally race then this is a good opportunity to get started. Low key fun for all. Then on July 4th  is the Boat Parade.

Ship/Captain/Crew Race:
It is a real stretch to call this a race. You are at the mercy of the hosts on this one. Expect to do a lot of crazy things on the way to a undisclosed destination. Come join the crazies and remember points are awarded for silly costumes and the best log. There is usually a poker run involved. Meet at ? (we'll fill you in later). This will be an overnight stay at a location known only to the hosts.

Champagne and Chocolate Social:
This is an old fashioned good time. Everyone rafts up in  Beauty Bay and sips their favorite spirits and eats decedent chocolates (or wine coolers and Hershey's Kisses - your call) while watching the summer's light fade away.

Labor Day Harrison Cruise:
This is the last hoorah of the season. Just like in spring this is a fun get together. Every one meets at PYC then sails to Harrison to spend the weekend. Parties, bike riding, and idle conversation are just a few of the things to expect on this fun cruise.

Pirate Cruise and Treasure Hunt:
This is a family oriented event (isn't all sailing family oriented?) with a treasure that "can only be found by those who already know where it is", so lest ye be holdin' Captain Jack Sparrow's compass, ye best be commin' to get a map what has the clues, matey!

Tony's Dinner Cruise (or you can drive there)
Come join everyone for dinner at Tony's Restaurant in Bennett Bay. I'm sure there will be plenty of conversation (mostly lies) about the race earlier in the day. Dinner is at 5:30. Stay tuned for information about reservations.

Dockside at the Coeur d'Alene
This event follows the CDA Resort Distance Race that will start in the morning. Hopefully there will be enough wind to get all the racers there by 2:00 PM. You don't have to race to attend this function. If there isn't much wind, save some racers a seat! Here is some info about the restaurant from their website:

Dockside, The Resort’s Family restaurant, is open daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner and located on the lobby level at the water’s edge. Dockside boasts one of the region’s top salad bars, bakery-fresh gooey desserts and the Northwest’s premier Sunday brunch, all complemented by unlimited views of the Boardwalk and the marina.

The signature brunch features salads, fruits and berries, traditional breakfast items such as apple cinnamon sausage and brown sugar bacon, and creative dishes including chicken enchiladas and poppy seed au gratin potatoes.

Whether it be huckleberry pancakes or chicken marsala, fresh salmon or halibut, save room for Dockside’s signature dessert, the Butterfinger® sundae, Dockside has a treat for all ages and any craving.
