The Crab Orchard Lake Sailing Association is a non-profit 501c 7 organization
whose operational expenses are primarily paid through membership dues. Our dues
cover costs of running the club racing program (committee boat storage,
maintenance, insurance and regatta liability insurance). Dues also pay for the
Wind Word newsletter. Dues are $30 per family.
The dues do not cover member slip fees at the lake, as the club does not own,
lease or maintain the sailing harbor facility. Slip fees are paid to the US Fish
and Wildlife Service at the Crab Orchard National Wildlife Refuge headquarters.
The storage fee allows you to store your boat year round. Many members also opt
to trailer their boats to the lake and launch at the marina. There is no charge
for using the marina hoist or beach but boats do need to be removed by the end
of the day. Finally, boat ownership is not required to join COLSA.
