    November 2008

From the Commodore - John Gibbons

As I start my year as your Commodore, I want everyone to know that I am very excited and looking forward to another good year at BYC.  As is my custom, let me apologize now, in advance, for whatever it is I will probably do over the course of this year to upset some of you.  Having been a member for over 30 years, I am smart enough to know that everything we will try this year will not make everyone totally happy.  But what I will promise is that it will not be for a lack of trying.

My thanks to everyone for their help with our Work Day, and special thanks to Norb Chehak for getting the shed painted and Debbie and Anthony Carchidi for replacing the kitchen doorknob prior to Work Day.

Your Board of Trustees met on Saturday after Work Day, and is already busy working on our Summer 2009.  In addition to our regular programs and activities being planned for this summer, I hope that each of you will be contacted during the “off-season” and asked to become involved in one of our many committees, if you are not already on one.  Another area where we need your help is in getting your feedback, so we know what it is you really want from our various programs.   Please take a few minutes and send us or give us these thoughts and ideas.

Overall, my goal is to leave this position (Commodore) in as good as shape as it has been left to me.  We have so many positive things happening now that it is important that we keep the momentum in our favor.  I promise to direct all my efforts to that end and ask that you join me in this pursuit.
