Six light air races was trying, often frustrating, and difficult for sailors and Race Committee, alike. In hindsight, Newport was prejudiced the most by the illogical, and substantial wind shifts in both the 4th race, abandoned at the end of the first leg, and 5th race. Fortunately, the boat-for-boat 6th race was raced in reasonably predictable conditions, Newport winning over Mallet's Bay.
