Albert F. Haas Trophy |
|
|
|
| In 1962 after George D. O'Day had presented the United
States Sailing Association a trophy for singlehanded sailing competition, the Narragansett
Bay Yachting Association deeded to the New England Yacht Racing Council a cup for the
champion of the New England area. This singlehanded champion would represent the New
England area in the O'Day Trophy National Championship. The trophy was presented in
memory of Albert E. Haas, a long time yachtsman active in Narragansett Bay Yachting
Association affairs and active in the race committee at Ida Lewis Yacht Club.
