Well the 2004 Wind Shift was competed again this year
June 12th and 13th. The Lake or “Dammed Stream” as
my wife calls it, provided the best conditions for this regatta seen in
many years. The wind was out of the South moving about 20 degrees to
either side of South, with actual wind ripples on the water. James Taylor
was on and won the regatta, but the rest of the fleet had a tight battle
for the other positions, Steve Weeber Second and Eric Brant Third. See

WIND SHIFT REGATTA - Leather Lips
Steve had his new boat out in its first regatta. He
has sailed it a few times but this was a good opportunity to get the bugs
out of the new boat for him. Well he found some…. Temporary repairs were
made (Lots of WD 40) so he could sail Sunday.
When we arrived back Sunday morning several boats
found that their boats had a new names on them. The presence of Karla
Varley can not be confirmed but the Karla tradition was continued.
At the awards ceremony Eric Brant received a special
award from James Taylor. This Spring Eric, with his new boat attended the
Pynmatuning Spring Classic. Well on Saturday morning he put his new boat
in the water and went off to the Skippers meeting. When he returned his
boat had come untied and drifted across the inlet to the other side and
was aground. The safety patrol went over and picked the boat up for him.
Well this could not go without a special award. Erick was presented with
a book called “THE KLUTZ BOOK OF KNOTS”. This book has practice pieces of
line and instructions on how to tie common sailing knots.
We just wanted to thank Leather Lips Yacht Club and
Eric Brant for a great Regatta.
See you next year.
